Practice staff, Ardersier Medical Practice.

Joint Practice managers.
Mrs Jennifer Falconer and Mr Scott Henry are responsible for the overall running of the practice and would be pleased to help you with any general enquiries you may have. If you are in any doubt who to speak to regarding a specific problem, please do not hesitate to ask for a practice manager.

Scott Henry assists with all aspects of the running of the practice and will help with any enquiries in the Practice managers absence.

The Receptionists.
We have a dedicated team of four receptionists, who cover our three branch surgeries. Please remember that our receptionists have a very difficult task to perform and that they must follow the Doctors instructions.

Practice Nurse.
Mrs Audrey Bowie (RGN, SCM, OHN Dip) is available by appointment only. She works Monday to Thursday mornings in Ardersier and does Tuesday and Thursday afternoons in Nairn. She is part of the Primary Health Care team and plays an important role in the management of your care. The following are some of her many skilled duties:

Healthy lifestyle management and advice including:

Alcohol consumption advice
Blood pressure checks
Cholesterol testing
Diet and weight reduction advice
Smoking advice
Asthma management
Audiometry (hearing tests)
Blood tests
Cervical smears and breast awareness
Coronary heart disease management
Contraceptive advice
Diabetes management
Ear syringing
ECG tests
High blood pressure management
Immunisation and vaccinations
Spirometry
Suture removal
Swabs
Travel advice and vaccinations (There may be a charge for this service)
Various clinical tests requested by GP’s
Wound checks and dressings

Our receptionists can advise you whether to make an appointment with the nurse or GP with regards to the above aspects of your care.

Attached to the Practice.

District Nurses.
The District Nursing team work out of two bases, Croy and Nairn. They work closely with your GP and other agencies to ensure the quality and continuity of your care is of a high standard.

Health Visitors.
The role of your Health Visitor is to improve public health by working with individuals, families and communities. They are based in Nairn.

Health Visitor clinics in the Practice.
A combined Health Visitor/GP clinic is held in Ardersier on alternate Thursdays. Please phone the practice to check the dates. Childhood immunisations, developmental assessments and health checks will be performed at this clinic.

Community midwives.
The community midwives are based at the Nairn Town and County Hospital and care for our antenatal patients.

Community Mental Health team.
The CMHT is based in Nairn and consists of a Psychiatrist, community Psychiatric Nurses, Social workers, Occupational Therapy and a GP, If you have a mental health, drug, alcohol or psychosexual problem we may ask the CMHT to become involved. A referral is required from the GP.

Physiotherapy.
One of the Physiotherapists from the Nairn Town and County Hospital runs a clinic in Ardersier on Thursday mornings. Alternatively you may be seen at the Town and County hospital. A referral is required from your GP. Appointments are arranged through the Physiotherapy Department. If you are unable to attend or if you no longer require an appointment, please phone ahead and cancel. 

Coronary Heart Disease Nurse.
Ms Liz Batstone is a specialist nurse practitioner who is involved with patients who have heart disease. She is also involved in the prevention of heart disease. With this in mind she runs a smoking cessation clinic in Ardersier on a Monday afternoon. A referral is required from your GP.

Podiatry.
The community Podiatrist (Chiropodist) runs a clinic from Ardersier on a Friday morning. Appointments are arranged through the Community Podiatry Service. Referrals are required to be made through the surgery.
