Patient Group

The Ardersier Patient Participation Group (PPG)

Our patient group first started to meet back in 2006 and formalised with a constitution in 2008. Now in 2009 we have ten members who meet approximately every two months.

The Patient Participation Group is a group of interested patients who work in partnership with the practice staff. This is to ensure that patients views are considered when decisions are made about the services provided.

The aim is to improve services for patients and to improve two way communication between patients and staff. Please contact Scott Henry, joint practice manager on 01667 462240 if you would like information on the following:

  • How to make suggestions for the PPG.
  • How to find out more about the group.
  • To discuss if there are other ways in which you can help your  practice.
  • How to apply for PPG membership (Ardersier, Nairn, Croy and any other locality patients welcome).

  • The PPG is:
To improve patient awareness of our services and how to access them.
  • For the suggestion of improvements and new ideas.
  • Secure, all members sign a confidentiality agreement.

  • The PPG is NOT:
  • A forum for personal complaints.
  • For the discussion of private patient details.

So far, our PPG has covered the following topics (and much more)!

NHS Highland and the continuation of the Child Health Surveillance service in Ardersier.

The premises used by the Practice in Croy, where safety conditions were far from ideal and where there was no disabled access. The PPG were vital to the medical practice staff as part of the consultation process of service withdrawal in Croy. The PPG were directly involved with decision making and action in this matter.

Practice direction and how we could allocate availability of our services and resources differently.

We have contributed to the design of the new Practice booklet and the PPG poster.

We have created an acronym dictionary to assist members at meetings.

We have discussed way the group will work, having regular meetings attended by the Practice Manager, and by other staff according to topics being discussed. Keeping patients informed about our meetings.

The importance of confidentiality.

We have reviewed Ardersier Practice patient satisfaction survey results.

We have met with similar groups in Inverness and Nairn (Joint Patient Participation Group JPPG).

We have learned some interesting facts about the running of the Practice.
